9/24/2019 Customizing Reports In Quicken For Mac
Hi Jane, Oh dear, but I don't have a spreadsheet program. I'm kind of surpirsed to hear that. I thougth that all computers came with some kind of spreadsheet program bundled with them.
If you wanted to create a custom report such as a 'Tax Deductible and Tax Related Items' report for example that itemizes all transactions pertaining to selected categories and sub-categories (Income and Expenses) in the previous year (Last Year), in Quicken Essentials for Mac you would use a customized version of the Category Summary report. Quicken is remarkably sophisticated in its reporting. You can customize any report you see on the Reports menu. To customize these reports, click the Customize button (available when a report window is displayed) to get to the nuts and bolts of your selected report.

A quick Google/Bing search generates a couple of spreadsheet programs available as free downoads. With the versatility that a spreadsheet would offer you, it may be worth your while to tinker around with one. They're basically just a big grid that you pluck your data into and then rearrange or format it to your liking before printing. HTH -Kevin N. Hi Mark In order to show the memo in the cash flow report do the following.
Select Tools-Graphs and Reports. Select the 'Cash Flow, detailed' report. Check the 'Show Memos' option as shown in the attached screenshot. I am a little confused by the statement 'I use Memo to describe the transaction so when I examine a Cash Flow report I know I have the transaction in the right category'.Why not run the income and expense report instead? That will show you the transactions by category.
Ben Spencer Moneydance Support. Hi Ben: Got it. I didn't see an attached screenshot but found the Memo box with a right-click on the report header and choosing Edit. Can I select this as the default? Mu use of Memo field: My register has several entires from Starbucks or Regency Cinemas. Starbucks category is entertainment:dining but I enter participants in Memo. Regency category is entertainment:movies but I enter the film title in Memo.
Come tax time, I can identify the specific expense and decide how to handle it. Kind regards, Mark.
By If you want to extract some financial info tidbit from Quicken 2015, you can usually get what you want from one of the reports listed on the Reports menu, especially if you use the EasyAnswer feature to find the right report! Quicken is remarkably sophisticated in its reporting.
You can customize any report you see on the Reports menu. To customize these reports, click the Customize button (available when a report window is displayed) to get to the nuts and bolts of your selected report. The Display tab of the Customize Cash Flow dialog box provides text boxes you can use to name your report, pick what row and column headings get used, and specify how much detail appears on the report. You can, for example, indicate that you do or you don’t want to see cents, or that you want Quicken to calculate and show percentages. The Accounts tab of the Customize dialog box displays a list of the Quicken accounts you’ve set up, along with boxes and buttons you can use to specify which accounts’ transactions and details you want to include in your report.
You can use these options, for example, to tell Quicken that you want to see only transactions from your business checking account. The Categories tab, the Payees tab and the Tags tab display lists of your categories payees and tags so you can, for example, exclude a particular category or include only a selected set of payees or tags. Finally, the Advanced tab provides a bunch of other buttons and boxes you can use to fine-tune how a report looks. You can use Advanced-tab options to look at only cleared transactions, uncleared transactions, or tax-related transactions, for example. Quicken doesn’t provide the same customization options for every report. But in all cases, you can make lots of changes to your reports — which means you probably can customize your way to the perfect report for your situation.
